Today was the second and final Sea Day of the cruise. The ship will travel 663 nautical miles sailing back to Venice from Catania, Sicily in the next 37 hours. During the night the ship cruised around the bottom of Italy from the Ionian Sea into the Adriatic Sea. For the rest of the cruise the east coast of Italy will be barely visible on the port side of the ship.
After breakfast in the dining room, we climbed up to Deck 11 to walk the track for an hour in the wind. The sky was mostly cloudy, but by Captain Vittorio Cantu’s announcement at 10 a.m., we had cruised into more blue sky, but it was windy and about 21°C. Captain Cantu gave the wind speed as about 24 km per hour from the northeast, but combined with the ship’s northern acceleration, it was more like 55 km per hour. The wind stayed strong all day. Steps 9,196 steps or 6.84 km.
After lunch, we met Linda, Craig, Cindy and Nahed, in the Reflections Lounge on Deck 11 for another Five Crowns card game. When the game was over the ship’s path was almost even with Split, Croatia, which is about 240 km northwest of Dubrovnik. The Oceanview café had a dessert bar featuring a chocolate fountain when we went for tea. Then we remembered that we had a complimentary gelato each from the Gelateria.
We found a combination cork screw and wine bottle stopper in the gift shop that will be handy if we take corked wine bottles on ships on boarding day.
We danced in the Rendezvous Lounge before dinner Linda, Craig, Cindy, and Mike were also there. Sammy and Nahed were dancing too.
We said farewell to the waiters after dinner. Mike and Lynn did not come for dinner.
We packed our luggage and made sure the Customs Declaration List was up to date.
The post dinner entertainment in the Celebrity Theater was the final show of the Constellation dancers and singers called Rock City.
* Final steps for the day 14,310 for 10.65 km
Photos will be posted at home with a better internet connection, probably by June 16th.
